At KAPIT (operated by KAPIT Technologies Private Limited), we believe in fundamental privacy, complete data transparency, and a strict data minimization approach.

This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information when you use our grocery delivery website and web application in India, particularly within our operational fulfillment zone in Koraput, Odisha.

We only collect information strictly required to deliver your groceries, process transactions, and provide customer support:

To honor data minimization, Kapit does NOT collect, request, or access:

• Your contacts or address book.
• Your microphone or voice recordings.
• Background location tracking when the app/browser is closed.
• Biometric data (fingerprints, facial recognition data).
• Third-party marketing advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

4Why Location Access is Used

Kapit offers an optional browser GPS feature (“Use my current location”). This permission is used solely for:

• Detecting your local area in Koraput and confirming express delivery availability.
• Displaying the appropriate warehouse inventory and accurate delivery estimates.
• Providing delivery partners with geographical coordinates to reduce delivery delays.

5Camera & House Photo Usage

Kapit only requests photo or camera access for two specific, optional functions:

1. Optional House / Gate Photo for Delivery: In semi-urban and rural areas of Koraput where house numbers are unmapped or difficult to locate, customers may voluntarily attach a photo of their front gate or building. This photo is shared strictly with the assigned delivery partner to ensure your groceries reach the right doorstep.
2. Customer Support & Damaged Item Proof: If an item arrives damaged, leaking, or expired, you may upload a photo of the product to request an instant refund or replacement.

We never access your general photo library or scan unauthorized images on your device.

6Payment Processing & Security

Kapit supports two payment methods:

• Cash on Delivery (COD): Handled at your doorstep via cash or driver UPI QR scan.
• Online UPI (Instant): Processed securely via our RBI-authorized payment partner, Razorpay Software Private Limited.

When you pay via UPI, your payment is processed directly inside Razorpay's PCI-DSS Level 1 certified gateway or your installed UPI application (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM). Kapit never sees, collects, or stores your bank credentials, card details, CVV, or UPI PIN. We only receive a transaction confirmation reference number.

7Third-Party Service Providers

We share relevant data strictly with trusted service providers essential to running Kapit:

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to marketing brokers or unrelated third parties.

8Data Retention Principles

We retain your information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy:

• Active Account Details: Kept while your account remains active so you can place orders seamlessly.
• Completed Order & Tax Records: Retained for 7 years in compliance with Section 128 of the Companies Act, 2013 and applicable Indian GST laws.
• Customer Support Records: Retained for 180 days to resolve ongoing disputes, then securely purged.

9Your Rights & Data Control

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, you have meaningful rights over your personal data:

• Access & Review: View your profile, addresses, and order history anytime in your Profile.
• Correction & Update: Edit your name, phone number, and delivery addresses via the application interface.
• Withdraw Marketing Consent: Opt out of promotional communications at any time via Account Preferences.
• Account Deletion: You may submit an account and data erasure request by emailing care@kapit.com. Note that statutory tax invoices must be retained as required by Indian commercial law.
